How
Does SeeDEGA work?
It’s
a Sequence
SeeDEGA! refers to a modulating sequence of five basic moveable chord
forms on a standard tuned guitar (C, D, E, G and A). When two of the
forms are doubled according to a certain rule, a sequence is created
that that can produce the I through VII chord tones of a major or modal
music key within the smallest possible given fret distance area.
It
has a “Doubling” Rule
The SeeDEGA! “rule of doubling” is as follows: any chord form used to
play a scale degree preceding another a half-tone step away is doubled
to play both. In the major key, this means the I and VII degrees, and
the III and IV degrees are always played with the same chord forms.
It
Modulates
Any chord form of the C-D-E-G-A sequence can be treated as the initial
one.
It
Lays Out Music Key Chords at any Given Fret Position
The diagram (fig. 2) on the right illustrates the C-D-E-E-G-A-C, or
“C-Root” modulation of the SeeDEGA! sequence. Note its power: it
quickly reveals the chord forms used to play the I through VII scale
tones within the smallest possible fret distance area of a given fret
position.
NOTE:
In the major scale, the I, IV and V degrees are played with major
variation chords; the II, III and VI degrees are played with minor
variation chords. The VII degree may be played with either a diminished
or minor chord
